FRINGE MARQUEE DECOR
This fringe based fabric installation was commissioned by the University of Bristol for their Freshers Welcome Week event. The package combination displayed two fringe fabric walls which laid against the width of marquee + 4 fabric chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.
The UOB event showcased local Bristol performers, one of those being SnazzBack, a Bristol-based experimental jazz band. The bright visuals worked perfectly with their high-energy sound.
The aim
This project was commissioned on the basis I would use recycled materials. These fabrics were sourced from locations such as charity shops and recycled warehouse centres. The material would then be stripped and individually tied onto a netting base which would eventually make the wall.
Although the production took a long time, it was quite therapeutic. The process of slowly building onto the netting created an enjoyable journey of developing intricate colours patterns and shapes throughout the wall.
